ARC'TERYX

This campaign repositions Arc'teryx as essential gear for urban life, where weather volatility and environmental exposure mirror extreme outdoor conditions. Through split imagery, live environmental feeds, and weather-reactive OOH, the campaign collapses the divide between nature and the city showing that Arc'teryx isn't worn for style, but for survival.

The fact

People see outdoor apparel as gear for extreme environments, not for everyday life. But major urban climates — from New York to Montreal — are now as unpredictable as any mountain.

Most treat outerwear as fashion, not survival. Gorpcore made technical gear a look rather than a tool, and Arc’teryx risks being loved for the style instead of the life it was built for.

The insight

Urban life does not separate people from nature. It places them in constant contact with it. As weather patterns grow more volatile, the conditions once associated with the outdoors now show up in daily city life.

Nature has not disappeared. It has shifted.

The idea

Arc’teryx is uniquely positioned — a brand founded in technical mountaineering with newfound clout as the leader of the gorpcore aesthetic. Position it as essential survival gear for the urban explorer by comparing everyday encounters to extreme outdoor activities.

The city is the mountain. Steel canyons, concrete summits, weather that does not care about your commute.

Out of home

Large-format billboards across bridges, rooftops and building facades reframe the cityscape as extreme terrain. Each placement puts Arc’teryx where the elements hit hardest, turning everyday urban exposure into a reminder of what the gear was built for.

A weather-reactive layer responds to live data — rain, frost, wind — turning city conditions into real-time brand moments.

Extensions

A lo-fi YouTube livestream broadcasting real-time weather moods, from alpine storms to city rain, with ambient visuals and soundscapes that shift with actual conditions and a toggle between Mountain and City modes.

A partnership with Uber Eats showing how the product holds up for the people who traverse the city most, with offers tied to Arc’teryx purchases.
